Infographics of How Internet Works?

This is a infograph about the basics of Internet. Basically, it is an over simplified diagram of how internet works. Here you can see an user trying to send an email using her Yahoo email account. when she log on to her account the following things happen.

  • At first she types the  address(URL) of the email server in the web browser : mail.yahoo.com
  • The computer sends DNS query to the ISP( Internet service provider). If the ISP knows the DNS address then it sends back the IP of the Yahoo mail server to the user's computer. If it does not have any clue about the DNS then it sends request to another DNS. When the IPS receives the mail server's IP, it let the user know about it.
  • Finally, user sends the email which takes the route of global Internet connection, which is basically a series of high speed and powerful routers( mostly BGP routers) and then it reaches the Yahoo mail server.
